How long have your worked for Suzanne James Catering?

Absolutely ages, where does the time go? I has gone down in SJHQ history that Graham took one look at my CV and rejected me, only to return from holiday to discover Sue has got me helping in the kitchen.  That was several years ago, so I guess they have decided I am worth keeping!


What do you do at SJHQ?

I work in the kitchen, supporting the chefs as necessary.


What do you love about your job?

Seeing basic ingredients turned into fine food.  I also love the camaraderie. 

What food do you love to prepare?

I really enjoy preparing canapes.

What’s your favourite food to eat?


Thai

If you could dine with anyone, past or present who would it be?


Jo Brand (not beyond the realms of possibility as she lives in East Dulwich).

Where did you train?


I am mostly self-taught with a few courses along the way.

What did you do before you worked for Suzanne James Catering?


I returned from having lived in Spain for several years.  I had worked as a private chef and an air stewardess but wanted something local and flexible.

What do you like to do when you're not at work?


I can mostly be found playing golf in Dulwich!

What's the hardest thing about being a chef?


Being on your feet all day and coping with the varied musical tastes of colleagues!

If you weren't a chef what would you be (we all think you'd make a very good chat show host…what do you reckon)?


Hmmm an Interior decorator, or thinking about it I would have loved to have run an up market guest house/B&B!!   Or been a make up artist.

In your opinion what makes Suzanne James different from other catering companies?


Attention to detail……fine, that will do is not acceptable.
