Meet the Team

Introducing Clare "Harri' Harrison, Event Planner & Social Media Guru

How long have your worked for Suzanne James Catering?

I have worked for Suzanne James on and off since I was 18 years old. It was my Gap Year job before travelling, and I enjoyed it so much I changed my plans and decided I wanted a career in this industry so I applied to Oxford Brookes University to study International Hospitality Management. I retainined my links with Suzanne James as it became my summer job and in February 2016 I joined the team full time.

What do you do at SJHQ?

I'm an event planner in training as well as looking after all the social media.

What do you love about your job?

I love being able to see an event through from start to finish, helping to make visions become reality, it's a really important job and essential to get it right every single time.

The Social Media side of my job is lots of fun, and it is a constantly evolving world of opportunity.  I think one could lose hours, days and maybe even weeks on Pinterest and Twitter quite easily!!

What did you do before you worked for Suzanne James Catering?

I worked as a Chef De Rang at Belmond Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saison and a Maitre'd at Scotts in Mayfair.

Tell us about a funny experience …we're sure there must be some good tales to tell!

I once thought that one of the guests had her dress stuck in her knickers..... I discretely mentioned the issue to her. She checked and then said 'no it's just the style of the dress' I was mortified and I think she was slightly embarrassed but thankfully saw the funny side of it.

Which of the many venues you've worked at is your favourite?

I have to say I love Dulwich Picture Gallery I just think it is a lovely venue with great space and I love the history of the building.

What's your favourite food to eat?

I adore sea food so a Fruits de Mer platter with a glass of white wine always puts a smile on my face.

If you could dine with anyone, past or present who would it be?

It would have to be Michel Roux Junior as he's my favourite chef and I love Le Gavroche. There is something about that old school style service which I love and it would be amazing to speak to him properly about the industry and know more about the Roux background.

What do you like to do when you're not at work?

Outside of work I like to see my friends and I play Rugby for Beckenham which takes up a lot of my time too.

In your opinion what makes Suzanne James Catering different from other catering companies?

Suzanne James is family to me, I always seem to come back no matter where life takes me!  I love that we will do pretty much anything (within reason) to make people feel special and individual. All our events are different and are tailored to the clients which makes my job interesting and keeps me on my toes.
