Suzanne James and Graham Tooke, both Directors of the company received the prestigious honour in front of an invited audience of 500 business men and woman who attended the South London Business Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony at the Park Plaza Riverbank on Thursday, June 23rd 2011.
Sir Bob Scott, chairman of awards organiser South London Business, recently re-branded as ‘Supporting Local Business’, said the judges had been impressed by the level and quality of the entries.
Suzanne’s award was presented by Victor Perez-Mares of Viridor – one of the UK’s leading recycling, renewable energy and waste management companies. Judges stated that Suzanne’s application showed a clear commitment to sustainability across the business, with an enthusiasm to embrace new technology at every opportunity.
After receiving her award Suzanne said “Sustainability is very important to me so I am delighted - not only to win this award - but also to see the subject being taken more seriously. We have had an environmental policy in place since 2004, but it was only last year that we finally achieved ‘zero waste to landfill’ status. These things can take time, but sustainability is a goal we must all work towards”.
