It's October, which means it is the end of another busy wedding season and pumpkin season is here! Often overlooked as an ingredient in the UK they are in season between October and December but tend to appear in the shops for Halloween and then disappear (hence my photo with a rather lovely glass version!). Please don't forget if you are carving pumpkins that the flesh can be cooked, and even the seeds can be roasted! it is such a waste to simply throw them away! There are some recipe suggestions on our website here, and plenty more to be found with a quick internet search!

October also means the countdown to Christmas has commenced. It sounds crazy but there are only 11 weeks to go! Don't despair if the annual Christmas party is still on your "To Do" list and you're feeling under pressure - we know what it is like. Our team of event planners are on hand, baubles and tinsel at the ready to save the day!

Speaking of festive celebrations, we have had confirmation that the East Dulwich Christmas Cracker will be on Saturday 3rd December from 11am - 5pm. Last years event was great fun with lots happening throughout the day (you may recall I was one of the judges on the Mince Pie Bake Off - lucky me!!). Full details of this years event are still to be confirmed, so keep your eyes peeled for more news on the official website here and on Facebook here.

Last week we heard that France is becoming the first country to ban all plastic plates, cups, and eating utensils. By 2020, all single-use cutlery will have to be made out of biologically-sourced materials that can be composted, under a recently enacted French law. Hundreds of thousands of Britons put their coffee cup into a recycling every day, but in actual fact fewer than 1 in 400 cups are actually recycled. The UK throws away more than seven million cups a day, or 2.5 billion a year....so I really hope that we will soon be following France's lead, in the meantime, please think about taking your own reusable cup with you in the morning.

20th October is National Waiters Day, a day designed to celebrate all front of house staff and inspire people about careers in the Hospitality industry. It will be a day to celebrate the excellence, dedication, hard work and discipline of the 2.5 million people working in the Hospitality industry in the UK, not least our own amazing team. Without these guys our events couldn't happen, they are amazing, energetic, enthusiastic, brilliant team players and I would like to say a big THANK YOU to each and every one of them!

Venue News

In September we had the pleasure of organising a dinner for 160 guests on board the Cutty Sark. Our client, a world renowned medical company were launching a specialist cardiac assistance device and to support this we created a menu that demonstrated healthy eating choices.

Whilst the planning team ensured the colours, cloths and exquisite styling of the event mirrored the elegant surroundings of the Cutty Sark, my chefs and I took

this opportunity to create an exceptionally healthy and beautiful menu which included a starter of Heritage Tomatoes, Edamame Bbeans & Feta with Filippo Berios Monti Iblei Gran Cru Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

The main course included the very much on trend Cauliflower Rice served alongside Coconut Lime Chicken and dessert surpassed itself with Chocolate, Chai and Raspberry Tarts.

The evening culminated with Volcano coffee & Birchalls teas with Macha GreenTea Macarons.

East Dulwich Supper Club Charity Event6

As most of you already know we see ourselves very much as a business at the heart of our local community, and as such we are delighted to be supporting Link Age Southwark, a wonderful local charity, in their Autumn Fundraising drive.

On Thursday, 24th November 2016 we will host an exclusive Charity Supper Club Evening with a Thanksgiving Twist! The evening will included welcome cocktails, canapés, a fabulous 3 course meal of seasonal food and specially selected wines. The menu will be prepared before your very eyes by our team of professional chefs and served in our professional kitchen on Barry Road in East Dulwich.

The evening will commence at 7pm with pre dinner drinks & canapés and dinner will be served at 8pm. Carriages from 10.30pm
