London Fashion Week is almost here, and with it a whole new season of events and new menus to look forward to. Food fashions can vary every bit as much as clothes, but bowl food remains as popular as ever so do consider these delightful, mini meals as part of your event. Slightly more substantial, they work incredibly well served alongside our fantastic new range of Autumn canapes that reflect the colours and designs of the season.

This month our new apprentice chef joined the team. We are loving his enthusiasm and he is already causing a stir in the kitchen - more on that later in the newsletter under "Meet the Team"! I am looking forward to many of you meeting him on our events soon!

Last week we received fabulous news; we have yet again been awarded a Three Star Food Made Good Rating with the Sustainable Restaurant Association.

Our score of 83% overall was an improvement on last year putting us in the top 8% of SRA members in London and the top 19% of members (from all industries) proud are we? Very!

A statement from the SRA says that "We commend Suzanne James Ltd on its sustainability initiatives and commitment to ethical best practices. The areas in which they performed well should be promoted to inspire other UK caterers and to showcase the work they have put into making themselves a leading sustainable catering & events company".

It is no secret that sustainability is close to my heart and as I write this I have just enjoyed a wondeful wine tasting with Nico from Indaba Wines. The tasting included Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Merlot and Mosaic Wines all of which were really oustanding!
We also love the new labelling on the bottles, and Indaba's fantastic ethical credentials, which include a robust approach to sustainablity and an Eduction Fund which has been set up to establish the Indaba Montessori Academy, setting up schools for wine farm workers' children in the Cape Winelands, focusing on the critical early childhood development phase of 0 to 6 years old

It really has been an outstanding Summer, so it is hard to believe that Autumn is just around the corner, but the list of seasonal ingredients from our suppliers tells me otherwise, like it or not. In fact, as a chef it is always exciting to think about recipes that you haven't prepared for a while so I don't really mind at all, especially as I now get to make my absolute favourite beef bourguignon!

Of course, as well as winter warmers and Christmas Feasts we are already working with many couples on their Summer 2017 Weddings, with enquiries coming in for 2018, 2019 and even 2020! Our venues are filling up fast, so please do get in touch soon if you are planning to tie the knot in the next year or two, our team of Wedding Planners eagerly await your call. We are often able to negotiate favourable hire rates for our clients so why not take a look at our venues page for inspiration and then get in touch with us to act on your behalf, it's all part of the service, you may not have done it before but we certainly have!

I hope you all have a super summer - I am sneaking away for a few days in Norfolk, I hope you all find time to do something relaxing.

Best wishes,

Suzanne James
